Track And Field Workouts

Track and field workouts are very important for track and field athletes and wannabes. There are a lot of types of track and field workouts that you can do depending on what track and field event you are focusing one. Track and field is not just one sport. It involves several types of sports that are categorized as track and field.

Some of the sport events included in track and field are the sprints, road running, race walking, marathon, jump events like long and high jumps, as well as pole vault, javelin, discus throw, and hammer throw. Sometimes, usually in the olden days, wrestling form part of track and field events as well. Notice the similarity in these sports events? Well, track and field is more on running, jumping, and throwing.

It’s what makes it different from other sports like taekwando, swimming, basketball, soccer, and volleyball to name a few. The track and field events are commonly known as light athletics because it doesn’t really involve weight lifting among others. What’s more is that being in top shape meaning having a slim and lean figure for the distance runners, is very crucial. That’s why track and field exercises as well as track field workouts are very essential in succeeding in this kind of sport.

Obviously, based on the number of different sports in the track and field category, there are a lot of types of track and field workouts. For one, there are the track and field distance workouts which can even be divided into distance workouts for throwing, or distance workouts for jumping. To win the long jump, you’ll have to jump as far away from your starting point as possible. In order to do this, you’ll have to have workout plans for track field jump events.

On the other hand, there are also distance track and field workout routines for throwing like practicing with a disc used in Frisbee. You’ll have to get a book or manual or coach or teacher to tell you the basics of throwing, and then you work on the distance as you go through your track and field workout routine.

Even students in schools are given track & field workouts as part of their Physical Education class. Some of the high school track field workouts include obstacles, running sideways from one point to another and touching the ground, relays, and so on. These high school track & field workouts can be no biggie but can help in the long run. It can actually start you out with the real track and field workout program professionals do.
