Track And Field Events
The history of track and field events dates all the way back to the Olympic Games back in 776 BC. It was here that a cook from a nearby city won the first foot race which was 600 feet long. Then there is other evidence that suggests that the history of track & field events may have originally started back in the 10th or 9th century BC. Bronze tripods have been found at Olympia that's suspected to be prizes that were awarded for track and field events. Field track events history has also seen the addition of woman in competition. When women started to compete, they were not allowed to do more then the 800 meter due to the belief that a more strenuous event may jeopardize their reproductive capabilities.
In the United States track and field events started in the 1860s. It was in 1873 that the nation’s first national athletic group held the first collegiate races. Track field events are easy to stage. This is an important reason as to why these sports are so popular. All track and field events are governed by the International Amateur Athletic Foundation and have over 200 member nations.
High school track and field events are very popular in the United States and Canada. Every year more then 950,000 high school students compete in high school track field events. Through the years, we have seen increasing popularity for all track field events spreading outside of North America and Europe. There have been outstanding performances seen from athletes in Africa, Asia and South America. What types of events comprise the different track and field events? Basically, the running and hurdling events make up the track side of the event. Jumping and throwing and vaulting contests make up the field side. Running is the most prominent track and field event.

All track and field events require training. Training for track and field events is not something to take lightly. It is important to have proper training in place so that you do not injury yourself. Without proper training, you could be turning track and field events into funny track and field events. In regards to the increasing popularity and need for training, the IAAF is attempting to spread training knowledge to other countries that have not historically been traditional track and field greats.
