Oklahoma Track And Field

Oklahoma track and field is prevalent in several Oklahoma schools. There are a lot of track and field teams in Oklahoma. Most of these teams are from the Oklahoma track and field schools. Some of the 2007 Oklahoma track and field champions are Tulsa Union, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Coalgate, Douglas, Watonga, Washington, Okeene, Beaver, and Madill among others.

Oklahoma high school track and field is widely spread all over the state of Oklahoma, counting those mentioned above plus others like Tulsa East Central, Tulsa Edison, Shawnee, Idabel, Plainview, Tishomingo, Hennessey, and Cimarron. There are also the schools of Edmond Santa Fe, Coweta and Guthrie, Lawton MacArthur, Tulsa Metro Christian, Haskell, Marietta, Hinton, Seiling, Balko-Hardesty, Norman North, Mustang, Altus, Guthrie, Collinsville, Millwood, Woodland, Boise City, and Wynnewood among many others.

Some of the new record holders in Oklahoma track and field are Kylie Spurgeon of Owasso and Chelsea Threet at Tulsa Union. Kylie Spurgeon set a record in the discus throw with a 173'2" in 2007 while Chelsea Threet got a 12'04" in pole vault during a Regional meet. She actually beat her own record of 12'03.25" at Oklahoma Baptist University. Some of the other state records in 2007 are from Millwood’s Gil Roberts for the two hundred and four hundred meter dashes. Edmond North’s Quintell Wilson set a record in the eight hundred meter dash. Hugo’s Derrick Locke broke a record in the Long Jump event. Carissa Levingston of Midwest City made a record for the women’s 200 meter dash.

There are also the records made by Oklahoma indoor track and field athletes. Oklahoma’s Baptist University has earned the national title for Women’s NAIA Indoor track and field championships two times already. At the same time, the Oklahoma Baptist University men’s track and field team got the second place in the NAIA Indoor track and field competition. There are other titles tied to the State of Oklahoma’s belt so just log on to the internet and search for other titles they’ve won.
